Pete Neighbour / Julian Stringle / Jonathan Vinten
Pete Neighbour – clarinet
Julian Stringle – clarinet
Jonathan Vinten – piano
Jerome Davies – double bass
Rod Brown – drums
An evening featuring two of the finest clarinettists the UK has ever produced for an evening of popular tunes mainly from the 1920’s/30’s & 40’s + some later ones.
From relatively humble beginnings growing up in East London music has enabled Pete Neighbour to travel and perform extensively. Concert and guest appearances on land have taken him all over Europe, North America, Australia and Asia. In more recent years he has carved a niche for himself being one of very few jazz musicians to reach a wider audience by performing as a Headline Guest Entertainer on luxury cruise ships; thus enabling him to travel to some far-flung corners of the world… Japan, Iceland, The Falkland Islands (some six times!) and even Antarctica to name a few. His act, when on cruise ships, focuses particularly on the ‘swing era’. The music and stories from that era never fail to ensure an enthralling evening’s entertainment.
Julian Stringle has played on concert, club, festival and broadcast dates with his own bands and with:- Peanuts Hucko, Wild Bill Davison, George Chisholm, Kenny Ball, Don Lusher, Kenny Baker, Cleo Laine & Sir John Dankworth. He has recorded with;- Digby Fairweather, Paul Jones, Sam Brown, Roy Williams, Jim Mullen, Marc Almond, Tommy Whittle, John Parricelli. George Melly, Craig Milverton, Joe Brown, ‘Chas & Dave’, Ken Peplowski, ‘The Grid’ and the’Spice Girls’! He has appeared at Wembley Arena with Meatloaf and in Monaco with Tina Turner.
Jonathan Vinten spent his early and formative years touring and travelling with seasoned professionals such as George Melly and John Chilton. John frequently play in a variety of setting including Concerts, Arts Festivals, Residencies, Cruise Ships, Weddings and the Chelsea Flower Show, Derby Day, The BAFTA awards and other such prestigious events.
Jerome Davies appears regularly with the Harlem Meer Cats and other jazz bands throughout the London jazz scene.
Rod Brown has been part of the UK and European jazz scene for decades. He works with many bands, currently including with Sarah Spencer, Andy Dickens and TJ Johnson.
He has performed in pit bands in West End shows, Pantomime, TV and recording sessions, specializing in Latin percussion and has toured with the Herb Miller Orchestra.

” handles the classics as the gems they still are ” – The Guardian
This highly entertaining 7 piece band is fronted tonight by the classy singer Hazel Holder whom John Elderidge describes as “A wonderful singer with a passionate delivery which completely captures the audience” . The band is led by pianist Stephen Large who has been musical director for Caro Emerald, Rebecca Ferguson and Duffy as well as having been MD/keyboard player for Paul Heaton/Jackie Abbott, Imelda May, Clare Teal, Martha Reeves and Rod Stewart. He has also taken over Jools Holland’s role as keyboard player in the band Squeeze. Describing themselves enigmatically as ‘itinerant dealers in second-hand soundings and muggled melodiousness!’, The Rag and Bone Club deliver an outstanding performance of musical excellence with a keen reference to the music of the 1930s and 40s swing era. The band is influenced by jazz aristocrats such as Peggy Lee, Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, Ramsey Lewis, Chet Baker and Nat King Cole. They are all experienced musicians having worked with legendary artists including Kenny Ball, The Humphrey Littleton Band, Paul Mc Cartney, Stevie Wonder as well as playing with The Pasadena Roof Orchestra, Pee Wee Ellis and Jamie Cullum. Their album entitled ’Take Away Everything’ features original jazz compositions along with innovative takes on old classics.
