Catherine Lima - LOVE LETTER TO BROADWAY
Catherine Lima – vocals
Paul Higgs – piano/trumpet
Stewart Curtis – sax/clarinet/flute
Alex Keen – double bass
Marc Cecil – drums
Love letter to Broadway is exactly that – an affection for the many songs that have made it onto the Broadway stage with emphasis on the songwriters of Tin Pan Alley (with a bit of poetic license now and then to throw in other songwriters of considerable note!).
Combining her love of jazz and musical theatre, vocalist, Catherine Lima, and her quartet bring you songs from songwriters such as George and Ira Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, Harold Arlen, Dorothy Fields, Richard Rodgers, Oscar Hammerstein, and Harry Warren. All these writers were masters of their art and the reason the songs have endured, often outside the shows where they were first introduced, is that they are beautifully crafted pieces.
Together with stories about the lives of the lyricists and composers and the productions that have showcased their artistry, Catherine and her excellent band will take you on a historical trip through New York’s theatreland. Admission £20 via prior reservation only
