The Midland Youth Jazz Orchestra with a male vocalist, comes to the Club highly recommended by Chris Dean, leader of the Syd Lawrence Orchestra.
Dr. John Ruddick MBE is the Musical Director of the Midland Youth Jazz Orchestra and has led the band to a record eleven wins in the BBC National Big Band Competition with the band being unbeaten in the Competition for twenty years. In 2004 MYJO opened the IAJE Conference in Toronto, and was introduced as one of the finest young jazz orchestras in the world. MD John Ruddick performs as a freelance trumpet player across the UK and Europe which included being a member of the late Don Lusher’s Big Band. He has also performed many times with the BBC Big Band, and the Fat Chops Big Band, BBC Radio and TV ITV, BBC Big Band, Syd Lawrence Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Shirley Bassey Orchestra, Peggy Lee, Frankie Laine and Bruce Forsyth to name just a few!
