Sue Rivers & Jo Fooks Quintet
Sue Rivers – vocals
Jo Fooks – tenor sax
Ted Beament – piano
Peter Ringrose- double bass
Buster Birch – drumsJo Fooks’ mellow tenor sax tone is compared to Stan Getz and Zoot Simms and in 1992 Jo won Young Scottish Jazz Musician of The Year, touring with Humphrey Lyttleton, Acker Bilk and played alongside Elkie Brooks, Scott Hamilton and Tina May.
Sue Rivers is gifted with a unique voice, suited so well to the field of jazz, in the tradition of the great American singers. Sue is known for her musicality, her natural, mellow tone and the sheer emotion she pours into her performance, delighting audiences wherever she sings.
Ted Beament is a superb and sensitive accompanist as singers Maxine Daniels and Helen Shapiro have readily testified. Ted has played frequently with Lyttleton band colleagues Adrian Macintosh and is hugely popular with our Club members.
Peter Ringrose has performed with many great musicians such as Jim Mullen, Campbell Burnap, Derek Nash, Anita Wardell, Jimmy Hastings, Brian Dee, Simon Bates, John Pearce, Roger Beaujolais, Enrico Tomas so, Martin Shaw, Julian Marc Stringle, Mike Piggott and of course his wife, Sue Rivers!
Buster Birch has performed in over 30 countries with various orchestras and jazz groups. Buster’s drumming style reflects his enthusiasm for all music and has a distinctive Latin flavour.
