Award winner Vasilis Xenopoulos brings his quintet of top jazz musicians to our club for a great night of jazz standards which you know and love.

Vasilis is a Greek born Tenor Saxophonist. He graduated with honours from the Berklee College of Music in Boston USA and now lives in London. He last appeared at The Belvedere in November 2019 with his ‘Dexterity’ group celebrating the music of the late great Dexter Gordon.

He has a number of albums in his discography including several with Guitarist Nigel Price who appears with him.

On his debut album ‘Loud City’ he was backed by the Nigel Price Organ Trio and he appears with the Trio on the album ‘Live at the Crypt’ under Nigel’s name. The also co-led a group by the name of XPQ (Xenopoulos/Price Quartet) on the album ‘Sidekicks’. Two more albums feature the two of them, ‘The Wind Machine’ under Vasilis’s name and on the Nigel Price album ‘Wes Reimagined’, Price’s tribute to Wes Montgomery, Vasilis appears on some tracks as a guest artist.

Lovers of  jazz will enjoy the show as Vasilis is not only a composer in his own right, but also has a great love and respect for the Great American Songbook.

Accompanying Vasilis is Nigel Price, winner of a 2016 British Jazz Award and is a regular performer at Ronnie Scott’s where he has appeared more than 500 times.  Joining them is pianist John Pearce who’s played in the BBC Radio, Jack Parnell’s and the James Last Orchestras.

On double bass is the leader of Jivin’ Miss Daisy and a regular at Ronnie Scott’s. On the drums we have Matt Home who was nominated in the best drummer category for the 2016 British Jazz Award.

“When the players are, Xenopoulos and Nigel Price…..the outcome is downright irresistible..(Guardian)★★★★
