  At members’ request we welcome back the sensational jazz singer Vimala Rowe to the Club along with her top quartet.

  Vimala will be performing your favourite songs made popular by the greats such as Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Peggy Lee, Sarah Vaughan, Bessie Smith, Anita O’Day and Julie London to name just a few.

  A fantastically exciting, playful and inventive saxophonist, Art Themen has been a beloved character of the British jazz scene for over 50 years, famously combining his role as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon with saxophone duties in the bands of Alexis Korner and Stan Tracey among many others. Described by The Observer as “One of the tiny handful of undeniably perfect jazz musicians”, he remains as brilliant and inimitable as ever.

  Pianist Peter Whittaker obtained a Masters Degree in music and has performed with John Etheridge, Nigel Price and Dave O’Higgins to name just a few.

  Andy Cleyndert, well known to jazz audiences for the past thirty years since starting out in the bands of Don Weller and Bobby Wellins, has flourished on the jazz scene in the UK and beyond. He was seen regularly at Ronnie Scott’s club as part of the Ronnie Scott Sextet and Quartet.  He has played and toured with the cream of the UK’s musicians and a string of international soloists including Bud Shank, George Coleman, Ray Bryant, Lee Konitz, and James Moody. He was also closely associated with Stan Tracey, having recorded with and worked in his many bands over fifteen years until Stan’s death in 2013, appearing at countless festivals and major concert venues. Further afield, Andy has worked in Europe with pianists Gene Harris, Benny Green, Junior Mance and Tamir Hendleman.

  George Double’s playing and recording credits include Dame Shirley Bassey, Grammy Award Winner Jack Jones, Marc Almond, Mica Paris, Ruthie Henshall and Kym Mazelle. His West End and touring theatre record includes stints on Wicked, Guys and Dolls, Avenue Q, Sinatra and Anything Goes.
