  From New York, we welcome back one of America’s finest jazz vocalists Marlene VerPlanck, who returns to Belvedere Jazz & Music Club with The John Pearce Trio. Their CD recorded last year, ‘The Mood I’m In’ was awarded 5 stars in both Jazz Journal International and Downbeat Magazines.  Come hear it LIVE!  

  Throughout her career, Marlene has stuck to her guns, paying loving care to the great standards and new songs from our finest composers. Songwriter Hugh Martin (‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas’) expressed it well:- “We know our songs are safe in the hands of Marlene VerPlanck, and she will sing them better than anyone else.” 

  Marlene started out in the big-band business as a young vocalist with Charlie Spivak and Tex Beneke.  She’s appeared with the Dorsey Brothers Orchestra, becoming one of the nation’s busiest studio singers, backing up vocalists such as Frank Sinatra and Mel Torme. Following appearances on National Public Radio series ‘American Popular Songs’ she emerged as a leading solo performer. Subsequent appearances at Carnegie Hall, and the Rainbow Room brought rave notices, with US national TV shows including ‘Entertainment Tonight’, ‘The Today Show’ and CBS’s ‘Sunday Morning’ featuring profiles of the increasingly popular singer.  Marlene has recorded with Mel Torme and Julius La Rosa with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, having the first USA big-band CD to go gold in the U
